The shine was unmistakable. It screamed “Look at me!”. When you looked for to long, you can see the color change. When I looked up, I could feel your eyes on me. Backing up a few steps, the warm wood burning my feet, I took a leap of faith, eyes closed. I felt myself fall into the water of Summer. We all knew that leap of faith was falling, for you. Gasping for air, coming back to the surface and feeling the sun smile on my skin. I looked up at your dazzling face and we took off to who knows where, but the longer I think about it, the more it seems to change. It reflects a color, that I can’t put my finger on. The way you would laugh, head back and arms out. Shaking, rolling even with the slightest hint of grace. Or how that one dimple on your left cheek would peak out when you smile. A genuine smile. The way your eyes help deep twisted secrets and lies that were just begging to be released. You needed to be saved and I was just the only one who held on long enough, to a point of where it burned to touch. I could touch for a split second without having to recoil and wrap myself up in my insecurities while you started a new fire. I patiently waited for you, all these days, months, years. Trying new things but never moving on. Meeting new people, but never seeing eye to eye. Always waiting for you, but never on time.
