Have we - or many of us - forgotten what Easter really is?

This is the time of eggs and bunnies
a merry-making of forgetfulness
Golgatha lies abandoned by Easter-revellers
in the shadow of the cross the eggs abound
here bunnies, cute and fluffy, step in blood
even little, yellow chickens everywhere
muted witnesses, stuffed and poised on wires
the Earth-bound cross of those with wings
human-made, human-forgotten in Easter-games

The time came and the time went
maybe the cross turned into a general amnesia
nothing like forgetting blood and darkness
