Don't fret, she said, but I dance with hearts
they come to me like stray cats
hungry for love
hungry for fondling
some are, all in all, just hungry

And I, I kiss and fondle them to bits
to tiny fragments, to molecules of molecules of hearts
this way they multiply, each fragment a new heart
I'm kissing them into fragments like an army of new hearts
their beatings drum us a merry tune of love and hunger
as we dance I hum a hearty song of hearts and kisses
