I woke up in the middle of the night
crowded by monsters, greeting me
sharp claws and fangs glinted in the darkness
their mutterings came like screams from torture chambers
However all bowed to me and lifted their glass amicably
"Lovely party," one of them said politely, "Cheers!"
As he drank the reek of blood was obvious

I sat up, stunned in my bed
then I yelled: "Party over, Good-Night!"
The claws and fangs, the blood closed in on me
I shut my eyes, ready for their attack
when suddenly I heard someone say:
"Good Night, Mom, see you tomorrow."

When I opened my eyes they were gone
and there I sat, wondering at the "Mom"
Me, mother of monsters and blood drinkers?
How come, party goers with fangs my children?
As I laid down, ready to fall asleep I felt
my claws for for fingers, fangs for teeth
the blood on my breath must reek as did theirs
In the morning all of it was gone
except a tiny speck of blood upon my chin
