On a cool summer evening after watching the movie Gladiator Sophia and I were pretend battling in the grass in front of our home. She did her famous spin moves across the grass swing her wiffle ball bat made sword. As she dropped me leg by leg letting out her sound effect of "shwing, shwing!" and gave me the soldier’s death by sword finishing move I fell forward simulating death.

I then tickled her and when she peaked in laughter I told her, "Sophia. I want you to know that when people battle each other there is no laughter in death. The last thing you ever want to see is a reason to physically fight someone because you let your emotions get the best of you."

As we both stood up to battle once more she paused sun shining in her eyes, (which I told her I was going to use to my advantage) she shielded her hand to her brow asking,

"Dad, Those guy you fight are the bad guys right?"

(Naturally we would all too quickly say, yes. But, there is no logic in that, just anger.)

So instead I told her, "No Sophia. Those of which any countries fight see themselves as Good Guys in their own eyes. Just as we believe we are the good guys in our own eyes. It is the way in which they view each other through their eyes that create the notion that the other is a bad guy. I know as a family we only fight for peace, not things, nor money.

Sometimes people choose anger finding reason through our collective negative perceptions; to create the idea an entire group is an Enemy to fight. See Sophia, we fight because we are afraid of each other, or beliefs that go beyond the natural realm of nature’s balanced beauties and into creative influence brought upon by people we believe we can trust. Don’t worry Dudet, When you get older I’ll tell ya more but for now, just know that daddy is gonna to teach ya how to see both sides of the fence in any situation that arises. So you can be free to grow super duper strong in Spirit, in mind with vast wisdom."

Sophia, looking towards the sky then confidently confirms, “sooo we are Good guys and Em-ne-mees too?”

I grind looking down into her little blue eyes hopeful, "Yes. And N-E-ME-sssss too. That is part of the duality of mankind’s nature, Kiddo.

Looking at me wheels turning in her mind for a few moments, she then bursts out with a loud "Hyaah!!!"

Grabbing the spears end as she went to thrust it forward I asked, "You understand. Yes?"

She paused, just nodded her head then pulled the spear back away from me and we continued our pretend battling moves.

I know that we do not learn very quickly many things and at time hear but do not fully understand the multitude of meanings within messages we are told or learn. But, that is why we have to go back out there and battle again. :)
