"No Damns Given"

Sometimes I feel like my rhymes aren't good enough
My words just jumbled like the pen in my hand is moving so fast that my mind can't catch up
Just waiting some day to hear that it sucks
But the thing about poetry
The fact that it's so close to me
Is a reminder that no matter what people say today
Or in June
Or tomorrow afternoon
I shall give no fucks!
I'm playing hide and seek with the "damn that I give" and trust me he is winning
The hateful words surround me like a twister that is spinning
But I wear reflective armor that will send them all back
Because it doesn't matter if your small, tall, white or black
Poetry is about the no damns given
It's about writing what you feel until the sun has risen
About the thoughts you reveal on the paper so it's like it never was hidden
So before you go knocking down my china wall and you laugh at the poems I have written
Remember that at least I'm not trapped inside a youthful mind called prison
