This one came to me as I was sitting in a classroom waiting for the lecture to start. When I finished it in my head, I thought it was so beautiful that there was no way I was losing it. I dropped my (luckily empty) coffee and started scribbling frantically over my notes.

Broken wings, crippled, once fair.

Like fear of loves lost to another’s snare.

A bitter cry, lost in the sleeping night.

For fear of crippled wings come light.
