It takes a life of hardship to know how people feel

You cannot sit in some office making a big deal

You do not have to be in some gutter but hunger makes you wise

You can look at a situation and summon up its size

If i give you something and it becomes a weight around your neck

And you get to wonder on the friendship you have wrecked

I gave to you a token for being kind and true

But shortly there after our friendship it turned blue

Do you think if i took it back, our friendship,it would start?

For the trails we have traveled our friendship should not part

If you carried a little, you say it is not worth your while

What happens when i share my load you do not even smile?

So let us depart our friendship it has come to an end

For what will we run across it's just around the bend

You need someone to uplift you and hold your emotions high

You do not need someone to let you down and to always cry

Pick up your bag and depart, with you i will find someone that is true

That when the load gets heavy that they will see me through

And take some weight from off my back,as i would do for him

And when the road gets narrow we will be both be just as slim

I did not ask our friendship but to lighten up the load

It seems to me in our friendship i was the one that built the road

And all you had to do for me is to carry a little weight

But if you want to change your ways it's still not to late
