The wise ones are passing, they have grown old

They now are being uplifted onto heaven fold

Their lives in passing, what mark it has left

It will be in their stories that have not been told yet

Passed down through their generation that has not been born

My great grandfather and grandmother who from the earth was torn

Their stories of hardship only now can be told

Now we can recognize their hardship, the cold

Born to their hardship, growing up on the land

Each day as it passed, took another demand

For their food and shelter for each passing day

Wondering the country where hardship was the pay

Death was their partner who walked by their side

No matter how they traveled, from it,they could not hide

Alaways,a reminder,to take care where they were at

As many were taken for not doing that

Death by starvation or other diseases

No matter they faced it,death just would not ease

Drowned by the rivers that gave to them life

Gave to their freedom, but death was it's strive

It is now in their passing, their stories you tell

To give to you your freedom to say this is your land

My ancestors have died for it, it is ours to command
