Summary

This poem is for parents and older siblings to read to their children and younger siblings, respectively.

This will work best with pre-school children just learning to speak, forming their own identity and recognizing their own name.

As with "Here To Stay", this poem is intended to allow the young child to hear his/her own name used as the subject or focus of a short, lyrical, rhyming and rythmic poem. The idea is to entertain, please and evoke laughter from the child.

Is One Of A Kind.

You Can Read To _________*

Any Old Time.

(Repeat 3 Times.)

There Are __________** And __________**.

But Only One __________*.

* - Substitute The First Name Of The Child To Whom You Are Reading.

** - Substitute the name of a popular animal, item,fruit or vegetable liked by the child

and which sounds well with the child’s name. Let the child decide.

Suggested Examples:

Rebecca - (Eat A) Banana

Emily - (Eat A) Tomato

Peter - (Eat A) Peanut

Jean/Gene - (Eat A) Bean

Billy - (Eat A) Burrito

Sally - (Eat A) String Bean

Gary - (Be A) Big Bear
