Man, this is a poem I did in High School! My history teacher said to make poem about the time of slavery and I made this. After I wrote it, I felt so depress that i just wanted to crawl in a hole.

On the plantation,
I look beyond the fields.
Freedom was so close,
yet it never felt so far away.
Scars on my back,
from the dreaded lash.
I cry secret tears,
for the anguish I can't bear.
Daddy is gone,
beaten to death.
Momma is gone,
try to run away.
Sister is gone,
sold down the river.
I look at God,
Why?
Why am I only left?
