Awaken to silence, In the woods that are cold

All alone with no one to hold.

Fall on your knees, Feeling nothing but numb

Hear something nearby, It sounds like a drum.

Sit up, look around, but nothing is near

It suddenly clicks, It is all in your ear.

Sit there in silence and figure it out

It wells up inside, Forming a shout.

All becomes quiet, The tears streaming down

Sit there in silence, Beginning to drown.

A scream fills the air with no one around

Stand in a trance, Thinking you have been found.

No one in sight, The scream has subsided

Sit there confused, The worlds have collided.

The horrible sound was no other than you

Look all around but you already knew.

There is no leaving this helpless, dead place

Now plain to see, This silence you face.

Melancholic Wisdom

Sometimes silence is a stronger indicator of a current situation then words. Fantastic job, a very emotional read.

Have to agree with MW, this is a great poem. Good atmospheric build-up!
