Psycho

“A civilian escaped from a mental hospital yesterday.” the announcer on the car radio said. “The identity is unknown, but he or she is mad and could kill you if they had the chance. People in the Chicago area are advised to travel in groups of three or more and should return home before dark.” after this announcement, the radio station played “Talk” by Why Don’t We, and a traffic light turned red. I turned to my friends, Emily and Jacob. “Wow,” I said. “How fake do you think that is?” When I turned around, I thought I caught a glimpse of a man who must have been six feet tall wearing a hospital gown and holding a butchers knife. I glanced back up but he wasn't there. Emily laughed. “I’d say it’s very fake.” She said. “The closest mental hospital is a quarter of a mile away. If someone escaped from there, they would be insane to walk all the way out here.” Jacob, unlike Emily, looked scared. “I don’t know guys.” He said. “This sounds serious, He could be anywhere. Why don’t we crash in your place tonight Harper?” He asked me. “Absolutely,” I said. “I have sleeping bags in my back shed that you can use. Do you want to come too Emily?” I asked her. “Sure.” She said. “It sounds fun, even though I can’t see why we should worry.” We pulled into my driveway and I went to my backyard and got the sleeping bags out of the shed. When I was walking back to the house, I heard a piercing scream come from somewhere close. I ran back to my house and opened the door to my bedroom gasping for breath. “Did you guys hear that scream?!” I asked. “Yeah!” They said in unison. “Now do you think we should take that mental person seriously?” asked Jacob. “Yeah we should,” replied Emily. “They might have been connected to that scream.” “ The news reporter was probably exaggerating,”  I said. “Anyway, I think that scream came from the abandoned building. There are always strange sounds coming from there.” “Harper!” Jacob said. “That was a scream we heard. We need to be careful!” “Fine,” I said rolling my eyes. “But I still think this is a load of bullshit.” We fell asleep around midnight and woke up at six am just in time for the morning news. We turned on the T.V. and the reporter started to talk about the scream we had heard. “At 11:15 last night, a scream was heard from the abandoned hospital and the police were called. A young girl, at the age of 15 was dared to enter the building by her friends, and the scream was heard moments later. Five armed policemen entered the building and never came out. Citizens are advised not to approach or enter the building as something could seriously harm, or kill you. Now here's John with the weather.” “well, that explains a lot”. I said. “Now we know where the scream came from and we can explore.” “EXPLORE?!” Emily screamed, “THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I WILL GO TO THAT DAMN BUILDING!” “Okay Emily, calm down. We don’t have to go to the building.” I said. “No, I think Harper's right.” suddenly said, Jacob. “We should go into the building. BUT, we should be armed and wait for the commotion to die down.” “Emily?” I asked her, “Are you good with that?” “No,” Emily replied. “I think you're both completely insane. If you go through with this plan, I will tell your parents.” “Jezze Emily,” Jacob said rolling his eyes. “You didn't have to freak out on us like that. You could have just told us without screaming your head off.” “I know.” Sighed Emily. “I just don’t want my two best friends to get hurt because of some psycho building.”

Two months later, Emily's mind was changed. There had been twelve more disappearances, along with Emily’s parents. She was completely destroyed by this but got through it with a burning fire in her eyes that could only be quenched by finding out what the hell was going on.

“Harper, Jacob, let's go. I can’t stand this. Not knowing why people are going missing like this.” there had been another disappearance that day and Emily was pissed. “My parents could still be alive for all we know.” “Fine,” I said. “We can go tonight. Bring knives.”  We went to the building at midnight that night armed with steak knives and flashlights just in case. When we opened the door, we were instantly hit by the smell of rotting flesh. There was blood splattered up and down the walls with dismembered body parts here and there. As we got closer to the end of the hall, the smell of decaying flesh got overwhelming. We reached the end of the hall and opened a small door. We gasped as a horrible sight befell us. The body’s of the kidnapped we scattered all over the floor with bite marks in there arms and legs but some didn't even have those. Emily let out a cry as she tripped over her fathers head which was next to her mother's limp body. I remained in the doorway, frozen with shock until I felt a hand dig into my shoulder. I turned and saw a six feet tall man, in a bloody hospital gown spit out a hand. He smiled showing off his blood-caked teeth before he lowered his head and ripped out my throat. I fell to the floor and blacked out but not before I saw him corner my friends and slash their throats with a butchers knife and start to feast on their faces. We had found him.
