for my friend who commited suicide her freshman year of highschool.

You kept it hidden, behind your facade.

This mask you wore, it fell away.

It did as bidden, it hid in shade.

But to our horror, you became its prey.


It ate you up, it swallowed you whole.

This act you put on, it gave no warning.

It darkened your heart, and captured your soul.

This evil within can seem so adorning.


It gave you peace, these thoughts inside.

This role you played was your happy image.

It spun its web, and to you it lied.

And inside you, it created an emotional scrimmage.


You chose to leave, to end it all.

The curtain fell, the occupants drained.

It won its game, it made you fall.

It was depression; it caused you to be pained
