What is my name?
I don’t know anymore.
I’ve been labeled many things, you might as well pick an aisle.
What is my real name?
I don’t want anyone to know.
I’ve always made it a game, so you might as well choose a name.
How many nicknames?
I don’t even think I could count them.
I’ve created these as a scam, so you as an outsider could not know of me.
How many years?
I don’t even remember.
I’ve played this charade for so long, you haven’t even realized that you’ve played a part to sell out my own name.

An interesting concept, the first thing that came to mind for me was the nature of the internet. Online we can all be anonymous and go by many nicknames/screen names, that we lose track of how many we have. And it keeps a nice wall between who you really are and who you are online, which can be complete different people. Really interesting poem, great work

Thank you very much! The funny thing is, this poem came to me when I reflected on my graduation. I realized my close friends and even strangers who knew of me, didn't know my real name. Even at home, it's very rare to hear my name being called upon my family now. I started a nickname in middle school bc I didn't want to be the girl they remembered in elementary school. From then on, i just stuck to me like glue. Anyways, I get what you mean about the internet, the screen names give a sanctuary of who you want to be or who you truly are. Lol, I used to do fanfic a lot, I have so many so many screen names it's funny when I think about it. Thanks much:}

As a child I was insulted by the calling of a name...
As adult I came to understand it’s really all the same.
On Booksie we anonymous, to write without a fear;
But life, my friend, means something more, when one’s name is near...
So as I wander through this world, where some don’t really care:
The best that I can ever do for you, you name my mind keep there!
Yes, I will do my best all times, to keep you in my heart...
Even if we never meet, I pray we never part!

Aww, you're so sweet, thanks so much. I getting what you mean, it's not really the name, but the personality behind it. What's funny, my username on this booskie account, has the nicknames of my true first name. ELLE is last and DEE is first. D is the first letter of my name, and elle are my last four letters of my name. I'm pretty sure you might have clue to what my true name is lol:}
