An article about John Gibbons.

The Blue Jays announced today that John Gibbons, (above) won't be back as manager next year.

Earlier this summer, the Toronto Blue Jay's upper crust promised their fans that manager, John Gibbons wasn't really going anywhere next year, (read Aug. 8 John Gibbons Job In Jeopardy?  Not Really).

Today, however, the Jays announced that Gibbons won't be back in 2019.

"I will always be a Jay," said Gibbons.

As Blue Jay manager for two stints, Gibbons has a record of 791-787.  He ranks  second to Cito Gaston in franchise history for wins and games by a manager.

Gibbons guided the team to the American League Championship Series in 2015 and 2016.  The team lost both series.

This season, the Jays have a 71-87 record and are fourth in the American League East Division.

Gibbons had a year to go on his two-year contract extension he'd signed in 2017.
