When my life was spiraling downward, I wrote this poem for my daughter. My hope hope was that it would be given to her should anything ever happen to me. When Talk show host Don Imus referred to Black females at Rutgers as Nappy headed Ho's, these words came to me.

PERCENTAGE POEM (For My Daughter)

To Don Imus

According to Statistics

And United Press

You as a Black female

Have a 7% Chance of going to College

A 3% chance of attaining happiness.

And a 42% Chance of dying young From stress.

A 12% Chance of having three children

Before the age of Twenty-one.

Associated Press even tossed in

A 74% chance of you having to Father your sons.

And Reuters gives you a Twenty-four percent chance

Of being a whore

So when you see statistics like these

Tear them up, move on and ignore.
