It was a nice cool day in August down in the bayou of Louisiana. I took my boat out over the glasslike marshes for a time to relax in isolation. I do this, because I am an artist. I hate to be pinned down on one topic, so I sing, draw, write; whatever comes to mind. But first, I need an inspiration.
This placid day seemed like the perfect chance to be inspired. I gazed over the mirror of the water, and saw trees, a crocodile, some underbrush; I had seen all this far too much living down here. As I moved my view up and down, I saw muddy water, and a sunny sky. I could feel that this was my inspiration for something, so I took out a pad and wrote.

Muddy water, sunny sky,
You surround me as I lie.
Watching, waiting, for the day,
That together, you will play.

Looking up, and looking down,
That great big ball, that is so round.
Placid waters, flow day and night,
While the sun above does shine so bright.

Muddy water, sunny sky,
Stay here with me, ‘til I die.
So that all, you may bless,
Even once I’ve gone to rest.
