Are friends, good grades and a great boyfriend enough? Everyday she comes home from school, hearing, knowing they are in there fighting screaming, throwing insults. Her friends say they understand, but do they really? Her father being a drug addict and her mother being the great mother she is still has some defects. She knows her mother loves her and she knows her mother is always there, but she has no feeling her father even notices her.
Her younger brother is the light of her fathers life, he’d choose him over her for anything, ever since her brother had come into their lives. If they ever planned to do something alone once her brother started begging, he would come along to. She wonders if her mom will ever see how upset she is.
Until one day she comes home from school, and doesn’t see her dad or any of his things. She only sees her mom on the couch. She asks where her father is, her mother replies im sorry, this is not what I wanted for you or your brother but I have asked your father to move out. She felt like her heart stopped she couldn’t move or breath she wanted to burst into tears but she didn’t, she couldn’t. On the inside she was screaming, falling to the ground, crying. She also knew things would be quieter and maybe easier.
Her father had no clue what he had done to her! How he had affected her! When she went to bed all she could think about was one night. She was on the phone with her mother and her father had told her to hang up and eat dinner. She said no and continued talking on the phone so he screamed “NO?”  He walked to her and slammed the phone on the hook, threw her down to the ground and hit her until she cried. She was so confused! She didn’t know he would do that.
That night repeated in her head over and over again and soon enough she found herself dreaming that same night. She could feel the pain he had left she could see the anger in his face just as if it were real, only to wake up screaming. She wishes she had said something, she wishes she had done something, but she didn’t and couldn’t do anything now. She remembers the night as if it had been last night, but wishes it would go away. Its over and done with and she doubts he even remembers it but she still thinks about what had happened and how she could have done something differently but its too late its gone.
