As I lie there on the grassy hill outside of Ferndale, Oregon, I had a flash back of my teen years. My parents always fought, and that was the last memory I had of them. My step-brother, JT, had gone through alot with me. I had a need to go to a University near Oregon, but right outside of state. My parents didn't have the money to pay for me, but I did. I had just gotten a scholorship, and I was prepared to go to college. That's how I ended up here.
As I sat up, knees crossed, I remembered how I always loved to play piano. I was going to the university to become a muscian, and I was positive that this was why I was sent to earth- to play music. After a night of my parents yelling at eachother, and me trying to comfort JT, I had left. I couldn't take it any more. I was 18, and ready for the real world. I hated the thought of leaving my 12 year old brother by himself, but I had to leave.
My best friend, Ivan, was going to the same college, so he was glad come and pick me up in the middle of the night. I left a note to my brother saying:
JT,
Tell my mother, tell my father that I've done the best I can.
To make them relize this is my life.
I hope they understand.
I'm not angry, I'm just saying.
Sometimes goodbye is a second chance.
I love you, Justine
I put the note on my desk, next to my computer monitor, and sneaked out my window and into Ivan's truck. We were off, and soon, I was gone. I was happy to be gone, but I would miss my friends, town, and especially, JT. I was finally free to explore and have fun. Away from chaos. I will go back........to take JT out of his misserable home. As soon as possible.
I looked over the valley among me, and felt Ivan's arm around my shoulder. Day one of my life. I was about start a new begining.
And for now, before going back for JT, I will focus on college and my future. This was the second chance I had dreamed of for years.
