just a little love story

As I sat on the bench, reading the letter from the Unversity that had excepted me, I got a tingling feeling in my stomach. I turned around to find my crush holding balloons that read "Happy Birthday!" in a circlular balloon and "LOVE" in a heart balloon. It was my birthday, and the last day of school. I smiled and stood up to give him a hug. He came towards me and gave me the ballons, with a present on the end of the two blue strings.

"You shouldn't have!" I joked.

"I had to." He smiled.

I took the lid off the small, purple, rectanglular box, and saw a necklace with a crystal heart. In the middle of the shiny crystal, there were two names.

I gasped, and averted my eyes to his. He smiled and grab my waist, pulling me forward towards his chest. He kissed me, and then gently put my head on his chest. I exhaled with relief. I closed my eyes, and swayed with him. When the bell rang, he let go of my waist slowly, and held my hands.

"See you in second hour?" He said dissappointed.

"I don't want to go to class......" I sighed.

He surprised me by suddenly pulling me by my right hand towards the ditch next to the school entrance. We went all the way to the back, the deepest part, and he leaned into me, me being perfectly still. He put his arms around my waist and started kissing me. Not a kiss- more then a kiss. What most people would say 'making out'. This was way better then a make out scene. It wasn't out of love.....out of everlasting happiness. I let my back pack drop, and then put my hands on his face, pulling him closer to me. He rubbed my back, and twisted my hair. It lasted forever. Soon, we were locked in eachother's arms like never before.

I thought it had been 5 minutes, but then the bell rang to go to second hour. He pulled his lips away from mine slowly, letting out a little sigh. I opened my eyes, and looked at his hands. They were holding mine in a tight grip.

"I think you should go to class." He said.

"As long as you don't ditch with out me." I smiled.

He chuckled, and walked me to my next class. He was right behind me, his hands on my waist, and his head on my shoulder blade, facing forward. He kissed my neck and sighed slightly. I stopped at the door into my Math class, and turned around. His hands stayed on my waist, and then got tighter as I put my arms around his neck.

He kissed me, and opened the door for me, never letting his eyes drift away from mine. I walked into my class, and sat down, instantly looking at the clock. Forty-five minutes and I was out of here. It went by quickly, so I was pleased. As soon as the last second ticked, I walked out of the class room to find Jordan standing against the wall, next to the water fountain. Finally, no school for six months. College would be more fun then high school. I was a graduate! I could hardly believe it.

I smiled as Jordan met my gaze, and he picked me up and carried me to my car. He layed my down on the two front seats of my truck. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, and when I opened my eyes, he was leaning over me. I let out a little laugh, and then grabbed his shoulders and pulled him towards me. We kissed for a long minute, until our friends came over, taking pictures on their cell phones and chanting him on for more. He turned his head towards our fans and replied, "You wanna see more? Well, how about this?" And then he wrapped me in his arms and flipped us, him underneath me this time. As we kissed, everyone 'AWW'ed and laughed. I pulled my face away from his and laughed at him.

"You are the crowd's favorite subject, aren't you?"

"I guess. But that isn't important. You're the only thing I need to have to be able to live. School isn't the most important thing in the world, and I love you." As we got up, he held my hand.

"I want to take you somewhere tonight." He smiled.

"Oh really?" I stepped forward. "And where would this somewhere be?"

"I can't tell you." he said, holding my waist, swaying side to side.

7:30 that night in Jordan's car, off to the secret somewhere.....

"Can you please tell me where we're going?" I begged.

"I will give you a hint if you answer one question."

"Shoot." I sighed.

"Today has three special occasions. Name all three of them in order they happened." he challenged.

"Okay. My birthday, last day of school......and um........." I got stuck. "Three occasions?"

Three occasions...... my birthday, the last day of school......and...and......ugh.

"Was it the day you got you baby?" I guessed, rubbing his dash board.

"Think about it. Five years ago." He laughed.

"Five years......I was in 7th grade. You-" I was now understanding what he was talking about. The day he asked me to be his girlfriend through a kiss.

"We are here." He came around to the other side of the car and opened it for me. He took my hand and we walked out onto a long cotton field. It all came back to me. He had taken me to this field after school one day, and that's when he kissed me.

"I come here every weekend. The memory of our first kiss never goes away." He let go of my hand and walked a few steps forward. It was darker now, the sun just setting behind the horizon. "Those three occasions all revolve around us. Your birthday, your the only thing I need to be able to live. The last day of school doesn't matter anymore. Our first kiss.......and hopefully-" He turned around and nelt to one knee. In his hand was a tiny white box. He opened the lid, "Hopefully, this will be the one place you'll never forget. I love you."

Tears went down my face as I stood there in my ripped jeans and black jacket. I couldn't seem to get the right words for my reply. So I said what I thought.

"I love you, Jordan. I never want to be away from you. I have always loved you, ever since the first day I saw you. I want to be with you the rest of my life..... I will never be able to give you up."

He took my hand, still on his knee and kissed it. "I will never leave you. Your the girl of my dreams. I will take you for the rest of our lives." He stood up and put his arms around me, and I cried the tears of happiness.

"I love you." He whispered, just as he did earlier that day.

"Another memory to cherrish on May 22nd." he added. He backed up a little and took out the ring. I held out my left hand as he carefully put it on my finger. "It's-"

"Beautiful." He finished my sentence, looking at me, and he wasn't talking about the ring. I kissed him, and we stood there, holding hands as the sun took it's last few peeks over the mountains.

As Jordan walked me to his truck, he held my hand, and had the other hand in his pocket. It was cold, but that wasn't what made me shiver.

The next day on the free wat towards Show Low.........

"Where are you taking me now?" I asked holding Jordan's hand.

"I am taking you to Show Low." he answered, smiling. "That is still your favorite, right?"

"Of course! I love Show Low."

As we turned right off the free way, we started singing our favorite song- Love Remains The Same by Gavin Rossdale. Jordan looked over at me and sang "Love remains the same...." and then it happened. The thing that changed my life forever. I was in a hospital. I quickly sat up, and scrame out of pain. What happen?

The nurse came in quickly and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I'm in pain." I replied, holding my stomach like my guts were about to fall out.

"Just relax. Do you need anything to calm you?"

"I need him. Where is he? Is he ok?" I asked frantically, forgetting my pain.

The nurse looked down and when she looked back at me a moment later, she had a tear going down her left cheek. "I'm so sorry."

I stopped breathing. He wasn't gone. He couldn't be.

"No....." I whispered. "No. He isn't dead. We-we're suppose to get married, and have a a home and children. This can't be....." I started bawling, putting my face in my hands.

"I'm terribly sorry." She wiped the tear away and turned slowly towards the door. As she put her hand on the nob, she turned her head to give me a sad nod.

I just sat there, crying and wishing and hoping. He couldn't really be gone. Yesterday, and five years ago. Those had been the two events that I would any of my years...I would never forget those two times. It's still hard to think of these times now that I'm twenty-five, married, and have three children. I married one of my best friends, Danny, and we have two girls and one boy. Leslie Jay, Marcie Nicole, and Jordan Daniel. We live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I am currently attending college to become a nurse. The year my soon-to-be husband died, the nurse that saved my life inspired me to become a nurse. Even if she couldn't save my love.
