I’m emotionless,
Just sitting there,
Hoping I’m not being a pest,
Blankly staring ahead; a puppet.

Going on with my life,
Just going on with the flow,
Barely feeling any strife,
I doubt I can feel now.

Smiling, but not completely there,
Just going through the motions,
Whoever said life was fair?
Was it stupid to hope it was?

Standing up, holding on to strings,
Smiling, hopelessly clinging on,
Barely listening to words, even if it stings,
I’m just a puppet now.

Listening to every single word you say,
Wondering if you’re lying,
Wondering if you’ll betray (me),
But listening all the same.

My life is unraveling at the fringes,
And there isn’t much I can do,
Trying to save it, ignoring the singes,
If I burn now, then maybe I can feel it?

Grasping and running for something
But I’m not sure what,
Caged like a bird that can’t sing,
I’m just as hopeless.

A puppet is what I’ve become,
Is that what I wanted?
I’m waiting for the end to come…
Wondering if I can break free.

Even a puppet is more than they seem,
For, behind those glassy eyes,
And all those hopeless seams,
They’re always smiling, hoping for more.
