Sometimes I feel people expect too much. I'm only human. What do they want me to do? Do the impossible? Is that even possible?

Fighting to be on top,
Straining to be the best.
Never showing any emotion,
Not letting you see that I'm a mess.

How I ache day after day,
But I ignore it all.
Don't let myself stray,
But yet I'm setting up for a fall.

No matter how hard I try,
I never fail to be enough.
What do you want from me?
You never fail to make it rough (for me)...

If I went and won the Queen's jewels,
It wouldn't even faze you.
Why couldn't I win the Kings?
Is that what you want me to do?

If I went and climbed up to the moon,
And brought you back a string of stars,
You would simply snort and ask for planets,
Like Venus, Jupiter, and maybe even Mars.

If I went and swam down to the bottom of the ocean,
And brought you back priceless pearls and jewels,
You would laugh and throw them in my face
And say material possessions are for fools.

If I went and defeated monsters, slew dragons,
And rescued every orphan in the world,
You'd ask why I stopped there,
Why didn't I save all alien boys & girls?

If I proved to you why the world went round,
Why we were the way we are,
You'd simply ask why I wasn't smarter,
Kids in China are, and they're so dang far.

If I threw my heart out to you,
And gave you my very being,
You'd snort and walk off,
As if it wasn't even seen.

To you, I will never be enough,
Never in your eyes,
Even if I became Queen of the Universe...
You'd simply laugh and say it was all lies.

So here I stand,
Not knowing what you want.
I will never be good enough...
And I know I won't and can't.
