EXT. PARK - DAY

Mason is practicing soccer at the park. While he is, he kicks the soccer ball, which rolls very far away, and stops at a girls ankle. Then the girl picks up the ball and runs toward Mason and gives it to him.

MASON

Thanks for the ball.

EMMA

You're welcome.

While is about to run towards where he was practicing soccer, he stops for a moment and looks at the girl for a moment.

MASON

Want to practice some soccer with me?

EMMA

I can't today, sorry. I don't have the appropriate apparel and equipment to play. Maybe some other time? I also play some soccer.

MASON

oh, okay.

Before he thinks for a second what to say or do, something comes up in his mind. Then he realizes he forgot something.

MASON

Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Mason, what's yours?

EMMA

Oh, my name is Emma. It's nice to meet you Mason.

MASON

Nice to meet you too Emma. So are you busy tomorrow?

EMMA

No, why?

MASON

Maybe want to practice some soccer tomorrow? I need to get some training for a team I'm trying out for. It's a good idea to practice with a friend or someone. What do you say?

EMMA

I'm willing to practice tomorrow. I'll come in my practice apparel, cleats, and shin guards.

MASON

Okay then, bye. See you tomorrow.

EMMA

Bye Mason, see you tomorrow too.

CUT TO:

EXT - PARK - NEXT DAY

Mason is at the park waiting for Emma. He has his soccer ball in his hands, his cleats, shin guards, socks, and practice apparel.

ANGLE AT EMMA ENTERING THE PARK.

As Emma is entering the park, she is in her practice apparel, cleats, socks, cones, and shin guard.

EMMA

Hey Mason.

FOCUSES BACK ON MASON

MASON

Hey Emma, so ready to practice?

Emma approaches Mason.

EMMA

I am of course ready. So what should we practice first? Dribbling? Kicks? Juggling?

MASON

I don't know to tell the truth. I usually practice my dribbling, kicks, and passes. Maybe should we practice those?

EMMA

Sure, we can practice those if you want.

Emma and Mason decide to first practice dribbling. Before she does, she sets up cones. They practice dribbling around the cones. Then they passed the ball towards each other with the help of the cones. After that, they practice kicking, where Mason is practicing kicking with Emma trying to block the ball from getting past her.

BEHIND MASON WHILE HE IS PREPARING TO DO A KICK.

THEN IN FRONT OF MASON WHEN HE IS RUNNING TOWARDS THE BALL AND KICKS IT.

As the ball floats across the grass, Emma is preparing to catch it.

AT EMMA, WHO'S ABOUT TO CATCH THE BALL.

The ball ends up going past Emma.

AT MASON WHEN HE'S EXCITED ABOUT MAKING A GREAT KICK.

AT EMMA APPROACHING MASON.

As Emma is about to approach Mason, he stops getting all excited.

AT MASON STANDING WHILE EMMA WALKS TOWARDS HIM. EMMA APPEARS IN THE SHOT.

EMMA

Good job, I think you're ready for try out.

MASON

You did good too. Have you ever planned to try out for a team?

EMMA

Well not really.

MASON

Why not? I think you'll do really well.

AT EMMA'S FACE.

EMMA

I only play for a recreational team. I used to play for a competitive team, but I had a lot of issues. Then I had to stop.

MASON

What issues did you have?

EMMA

Practices are five days a week, which I can't do and is very time consuming. I'm very busy with other stuff like focusing on my studies. They're really important. I played competitively until I was 12. Recreational soccer isn't that time consuming. It's only one to two days a week.

AT MASON'S FACE.

MASON

Oh, sorry to hear that. Why don't you try soccer at high school?

AT EMMA'S FACE.

EMMA

Maybe I should, if it isn't time consuming. Maybe I'll try out for JV soccer.

AT MASON'S FACE.

MASON

That's the spirit. My try outs are next week. They're for five days. I hope I get in.

AT MASON'S AND EMMA'S WHOLE BODY.

EMMA

You'll get in for sure. You're really good. So what position are you going to play for? Forwards? Midfielder? Defender? Goalkeeper?

MASON

I hope to play for the forwards. What position do you play for in recreational soccer?

EMMA

Either Defender or Midfielder.

MASON

That's cool.

Emma looks at her phone to check the time. Then she realizes she needs to get home.

EMMA

Oh, I have to go now. Nice talking and practicing with you. Bye, and good luck on getting on the team.

MASON

Thanks and bye!!!

Emma exits the park, but first packs her cones. Mason also helps.

CUT TO:

EXT: TWO WEEK LATER - DAY - AFTER TRYOUTS ARE OVER

AT EMMA'S FACE.

Emma is at a cafe drinking some smoothie. Then Mason comes in, unexpectedly.

AT MASON, AS HE ENTERS THROUGH THE DOOR TO ORDER SOMETHING.

MASON

I'll have a Japanese Matcha smoothie, hold the cream.

Mason pays for the drink. As he's finding a place to sit to wait for his drink, he spots Emma.

TOWARDS EMMA.

Emma is all surprised seeing him here.

BACK AT MASON.

Mason then approaches her table.

MASON

Is it okay if I can sit here?

EMMA

Sure.

Mason sits on the chair opposite of Emma.

AT MASON'S FACE.

MASON

So, what are you doing here at the cafe?

AT EMMA'S FACE.

EMMA

I'm just relaxing. Very bored. What are you doing here?

BACK AT MASON.

MASON

Oh, I was just here to get a drink. But since I saw you, I have great news.

AT EMMA AND MASON'S WHOLE BODY.

EMMA

What?

MASON

I got on the team.

EMMA

That's great. So when does practice start?

MASON

It starts in three weeks. I can't wait. Thanks for helping me practice. If it hadn't been for you, I don't know what would've happened.

Then the waiter calls out for Mason to pick up his order.

WAITER

Anyone order a Japanese Matcha smoothie? Without cream?

MASON

(Turns towards Emma)

That's my order.

Mason goes to pick up his drink.

ON MASON WALKING TOWARDS THE COUNTER TO PICK UP HIS DRINK.

As Mason is about to leave, he goes towards Emma.

MASON

Want to hang out soon?

EMMA

Sure.

Emma smiles. Then Mason leaves.

AT MASON.

Mason waves bye towards Emma while exiting and drinking his smoothie.

AT EMMA.

Emma waves bye back and continues to drink her smoothie.
