This, also, I wrote about a year ago. It's about narcissism as is plain to see, and it's about one specific person I knew.

You,
A beautiful and awful specimen,
Stand and listen
to your own voice.
You stare mesmerized
At the mirror before you,
And cry out in wonder
At the beauty you see reflected.

I,
In the grey light of hiding,
I watch as you discover yourself.
I exist years after,
But parting the veils of time,
I see how you turned into
The creature of power
You are today,
And shudder.

Would that you had stayed forever
In the innocence of the unknowing.
For though you are yet unaware,
In the loss of this,
Lies your downfall.
Be prepared, my darling,
For the day when you realize
You are not perfect.

Even the sharpest and lovliest daggers
Give way to rust in time.
