There is a common held belief among Muslims that the Bible has been changed or has become corrupted. Because of this erroneous conviction, most Muslims no longer accept the present Bible as the Word of God. Unless this misconception is cleared, a meaningful dialogue with Muslims will not be possible. The objective of this article is to use the Qur’an – Islam’s own sacred book – to prove the integrity of the Holy Bible.

THE INFALLIBILTY OF THE BIBLE ACCORDING TO THE QUR’AN (PART 2)

CONTINUED FROM PART 1

Please read PART 1 before proceeding with this article. Link to PART 1 is provided on the left column of this page.

TESTIMONY NUMBER ELEVEN

Surah 2:41: “And believe in that which I reveal, confirming that which ye possess already (of the Scripture), and be not first to disbelieve therein, and part not with My revelations for a trifling price, and keep your duty unto Me.” (Pickthall)

The purpose of the Qur'an is to confirm the Bible as the Word of God, which was in the possession of the Jews and the Christians. How can Allah say that the Qur'an is confirming” that “which ye possess already” if “that which ye possess already” is already corrupted? This passage from the Qur’an will make sense only if the Bible remains pure and untainted.

Surah 3:3: “He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.” (Pickthall)

The root word of “confirm” or“confirming” as used in Surah 3:3 in Qur’anic Arabic is “Saddaqa.” It means: “to confirm, confirming, confirmation, to accept as true, accepting as true, establishing as true, to believe, belief, to give credence.” Thus, when Muhammad used this word, he confirmed the Bible as the Word of God. He believed that the Bible is God’s Word.

The Qur'an’s purpose to confirm the messages of God that is written in the Bible simply means that its duty is to prove the authenticity of these messages. Its purpose is not to correct, contradict or supersede it, but to authenticate it. The Qur’an uses the word “confirming” over a dozen times in connection with the previous Scriptures but not once as “correcting” them. This is possible only if the Bible remains uncorrupted even after the Qur'an came into existence.

To know that the Qur’an is a confirmation of the previous Scriptures, Muslims have to study and examine both the Bible and the Qur’an. It must be noted that by confirming the Bible, the Qur'an is actually validating its own authenticity by claiming that it contains the true words of God in it. It would defy logic and intellect for the Qur'an to use a corrupted Book as confirmation of its own authenticity. Hence, all present-day Muslim propagandists who try to discredit the teachings of the Bible are guilty of contradicting the authority of the Qur’an itself. The Qur'an is quite clear and very explicit regarding Allah’s position on the previous Scriptures. The Qur’an clearly testifies that the Scriptures which the Jews and the Christians of its time had in their possessions – which is the Holy Bible – was God’s true and preserved Word. The function of the Qur’an was to confirm them.

Through the Qur'an, Muhammad confirmed both the existence and the integrity of the Hebrew and the Christian Greek Scriptures. He did not speak one word of their corruption. According to the Qur'an, the Gospel confirms the Torah. (See also Surah 5:46). If the Gospel confirms the Torah by maintaining harmony between the two Scriptures, how is the Qur'an supposed to confirm the Torah and the Gospel? By contradicting them?

TESTIMONY NUMBER TWELVE

Surah 5:66 (69): “If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side. There is from among them a party on the right course: But many of them follow a course that is evil.” (Yusuf Ali)

If they had observed the Torah and the Gospel and what was revealed to them from their Lord, they would surely have been nourished from above and from below. There are some among them who are on the right course; but there are many among them who do nothing. (Wahiduddin Khan)

Two vital lessons can be learnt from this Qur'anic verse. Firstly, it shows us that if Christians were to abide by the Law (Torah), the Gospel and that which was revealed to them from their Lord, it would result in their happiness. Can this be possible if “they stood fast by” Scriptures that were no longer pure at the time when this Qur'anic verse was revealed? Secondly, this verse testifies that there were Christians who were “on the right course” at the time when this Qur’anic verse was revealed. Notice, Allah was speaking in the present tense when he said to Muhammad: “There is from among them a party on the right course.” For them to be on the right course, the Scriptures in their possession must be pure and uncorrupted – only then, can true Christians remain in the right path.

Surah 5 (Surah Al-Maidah) was revealed during the period spanning the last five years of Muhammad’s life. In fact the third verse of this Surah was revealed during his last pilgrimage or as Muslims call it, “the Farewell Pilgrimage,” which was only a short time before his death. Muhammad’s prophetic career lasted for twenty-three years and this Surah was revealed piecemeal from the eighteenth to the twenty-third year. [1] For Allah to state – even at this late stage of the Qur’an’s compilation that Christians will benefit by following their own Scriptures proves that the Qur’an was not sent to replace the Bible. These faithful Christians would not have been on the right course if they had “stood fast” by corrupted Scriptures.

No Muslim should doubt the integrity of Bible as the unchanged Word of Allah. It is impossible to accept the option that the Bible has been changed without rejecting the teachings of the Qur’an. The Qur'an attests to the fact that the Bible, consisting of the Torah and the Gospel, has remained trustworthy and unchanged even at the late stage of Muhammad’s prophetic career and we can be certain that it will continue to remain so for all eternity.

If the Bible has been altered or changed, why have the accusers not produced a list of the verses that were supposed to have been changed, accompanied by a list of the original verses? After all, the Bible was available in the days of Muhammad, and was circulated among the Christians. Therefore, if there are any changes or alterations in the Bible that we have today, these accusers can use the “original” to prove their claim? Why don’t they? The argument forwarded by Muslim scholars requires a priori belief – a commitment based not on evidence but nonetheless insisted upon.

TESTIMONY NUMBER THIRTEEN

The strongest proof of the integrity of the Bible for all eternity is proven in the following verse.

Surah 3:55: “When Allah said: O Jesus, I will cause thee to die and exalt thee in My presence and clear thee of those who disbelieve and make those who follow thee above those who disbelieve to the day of Resurrection.” (Maulana Ali)

Behold! Allah said: ‘O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee of the falsehood of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection.” (Yusuf Ali)

This is a very profound statement in the Qur'an. It reveals the superiority of those who follow Jesus Christ. It does not say those who believe in Jesus shall be made superior but those who follow him. Those who follow Jesus are Christians. Of course, this does not refer to those who are Christians in name only. As Jesus is not living here on earth right now, how can true Christians follow him? They can only do so by submitting to the teachings of Jesus as it is recorded in the Holy Bible.

According to the above Qur'anic verse, Christians will be exulted until the Day of Resurrection. The Day of Resurrection or Qiyamah will occur at the time of the end. For Christians to be exulted until the time of the end, true Christians must be existing in this world until the time of the end. For true Christians to be existing in this world until the time of the end, Christians must have a righteous standing with God until the time of end. For Christians to have a righteous standing with God until the time of end, Christians must be guided righteously until the time of the end. For Christians to be guided righteously until the time of the end, the Holy Book in their possession must remain true until the time of the end. Only then, Christians can have a righteous standing with God and be exulted “until the Day of Resurrection.”

This Qur'anic verse is one of the strongest testimonies which show that the Bible will continue to remain pure and unchanged until the time of the end. This means that the Bible, which is in our possession today, is the uncorrupted Word of God. In this verse, Allah contrasts the followers of Jesus with the unbelievers, which by itself proves that Christians are true believers. Can you imagine Christians being considered as true believers until the Day of Resurrection when they are believed to be following a falsified Bible by Muslims? Muslims please note that the above Qur'anic verse does not say that Christians will be made superior until the time of Muhammad’s arrival or until the arrival of the Qur'an but until the time of the end.

Christians do not follow the teachings of the Qur'an but only that of the Bible. How can Allah then make Christians “superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection” when they do not subscribe to the teachings of the Qur'an? Thus, this Qur'anic verse proves that the Bible is indeed sufficient for the outworking of a Christian’s salvation, both now and in the future. Does not this also prove firmly that the teachings of the Bible still remain as the authoritative guidance for all mankind? Thus, the claim that the Qur’an was sent to replace the Bible is both a lie and grossly inaccurate. As stated in the Qur’an, Allah will make Christians superior over the disbelievers until the Day of Resurrection. This would logically then mean that the followers of Christ will prevail over the disbelievers and will never allow their Scriptures to be corrupted by them. As such, how can Muslims then believe that the true followers of Jesus, who were given supremacy by Allah, remained helpless as their Scriptures were corrupted by disbelievers? Would not this then mean that, in reality, the unbelievers are superior? Would not this prove that the Qur'an is a lie?

TESTIMONY NUMBER FOURTEEN

Surah 5:43: “How come they unto thee for judgment when they have the Torah, wherein Allah hath delivered judgment for them? Yet even after that, they turn away. Such folk are not believers.” (Pickthall)

This event in the Qur'an took place in the environment of Medina at the time of Muhammad. This verse shows that not only the Jews had the authentic Torah with them but also the accusation that they changed the written Torah is a lie. That is why Allah was able to tell them to judge by their own Scriptures. It will be foolish for Allah to direct the Jews to the Torah if it is corrupted or changed in any way. Notice, too, this verse states that the Torah contains Allah’s judgments in it. Are the Jews so powerful that they could alter or corrupt the written judgments of Allah when he himself testified that no one would be able to change his inspired Word?

The Torah that the Jews of Medina had in possession was the same as that which was possessed by all the Jews all over the world. Throughout their history, the Jews have known only one Scripture – the “Old Testament” as it is commonly called today. From centuries before the time of Jesus Christ and right throughout the lifetime of Muhammad and down to this very day, the Al-Kitab of the Jews has always been nothing other than the Old Testament. The Qur'an confirms that the Old Testament is the genuine Word of God and the authentic Scripture of the Jews. It must be remembered that Surah 5 (Surah Al Maidah) was revealed in the final years of Muhammad’s prophetic career and just five years before his death. [1] Clearly, for Allah to rebuke the Jews for seeking the judgment of Muhammad instead of seeking the judgment of their own Scriptures proves that the Torah was kept intact throughout the lifetime of Muhammad.

The interesting fact that can be seen in this Qur'anic verse is that Allah prevented the Jews from turning to Muhammad for judgment. Obviously for Allah to prevent the Jews from going to Muhammad (and therefore the Qur'an) can only mean that the Torah is held in high esteem by Allah. Torah means Law. Therefore, the Torah that the Jews had in their possession contains the Laws of Allah. In matters pertaining to judicial rulings, the written laws must remain perfectly intact for judgments to be executed righteously and accurately. Any changes in the wordings or sentences can affect the ruling and the outcome of verdict. Thus, for Allah to direct the Jews to the Torah, proves that the Torah must have been perfectly preserved for judgments to be based on its written laws and for the Jews to judge by it. Allah also stated that those who turn away from the Torah are disbelievers. Had the Torah failed to remain pure, turning away from this corrupted Book would have been the wise course. Now, let us read the following Qur'anic verse to see the integrity of the Gospel that was in the hands of the contemporaries of Muhammad.

Surah 5:47 (50): “Let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel.” (Yusuf Ali)

This command was given to the Christians who were contemporaries of Muhammad, and the command is written in the “present tense” which in the Arabic language can also refer to the future. If the Gospel were corrupted at the time of Muhammad, then Allah would have never ordered the Christians to judge according to the Gospel. He would never have given such an order if there had been any reason to believe that it was not authentic in every detail. This order can be carried out only if the copies they had in their possession are authentic copies of the Gospel. Besides the Old Testament, Christians has only known one Scripture from centuries before Muhammad down to this very day. The Bible of the Christians throughout their history has only been one Book – the New Testament” as it is commonly known today.

Therefore, by admitting that Christians were commanded by Allah to judge themselves by the Gospel, which was in their possession during the time of Muhammad, the Qur'an is bearing witness to the fact that the New Testament is the authentic Word of God. Of course, true Christians accept both the Old Testament and the New Testament as the Word of God.

The references of the above verses in Surah 5:43 and Surah 5:47 do not say that the command to follow their own Scriptures is to be in force until the arrival of the Qur'an. On the contrary, these verses expressly exhort the Jews and Christians to abide by the Torah and the Gospel, despite the fact that the Qur’an had already arrived. Thus, the Qur'an neither abrogates nor supersedes the Torah or the Gospel. In fact, these two verses clearly show that the People of the Book have no need for the teachings of Muhammad or for his Qur’an. And Allah himself confirms this truth when he testified that they should go to their own Scriptures for “judgment” or “decisions.” As such, the Bible is indeed sufficient for them.

The Old and New Testaments both date back to centuries before Muhammad and there is no historical evidence of any kind to support the claim that the original Scriptures of the Jews and the Christians were something other than these Books. As the Qur'an clearly regards the Scriptures of these two groups as they existed in Muhammad’s time to be the exact revelations of God, it therefore testifies not only to the authenticity of the Old and New Testaments but also to their divine origin. The Qur'an’s undeniable testimony to the authenticity of the Scriptures of the Jews and the Christians which existed at the time of Muhammad shows Allah’s determination in maintaining their preservation. And it can be easily proven that the Bible which is in our possession today is identical to the Bible that was in circulation in Muhammad’s day.

TESTIMONY NUMBER FIFTEEN

Why would Allah give the following admonition in the Qur’an if the Bible is a corrupted book?

Surah 5:68 (71): “O People of the book! Ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.” (Yusuf Ali)

Say: ‘People of the Book, you do not stand on anything, until you perform the Torah and the Gospel, and what was sent down to you from your Lord.’ (Arberry)

In addition to the Torah and the Gospel, what was sent to the People of the Book were the Book of Psalms and the Messages of the Prophets. [2] All these Books can be found in our Bible today. This verse clearly states that the People of the Book will not stand on anything, until or unless they perform the Torah and the Gospel and what were sent down to them by their Lord. In other words, they will be left unguided unless or until they observe the teachings written in the Bible. This proves once again that the Qur’an does not supersede or abrogate the Holy Bible.

Even though Surah 5 (Surah Al Maidah) was revealed in the eighteenth year of Muhammad’s prophetic career and just five years before his death, the Qur'an still admonishes the People of the Book to perform the Torah and the Gospel and what was sent down to them. [1] It does not tell them to perform what was sent down to Muhammad but to them. Thus, even when the Qur'an was available and nearing its completion, Christians were admonished to stand fast by their own Scriptures. This means that the Bible in their possession has remained untouched by corruption even at this late stage of Muhammad’s prophetic career. This proves beyond doubt the dependability of the Bible at the time of Muhammad.

Although this verse was revealed to Muhammad, it was addressed to the Christians. And Allah spoke to them in the present tense. How should Christians today who read this verse in the Qur’an understand it? Should they consider this command that was given to them “to stand fast by the Gospel” as no longer being valid? Or should Christians consider the commandments of Allah in the Qur'an as both eternal and unchanging? For Christians to submit today to this decree of Allah to “stand fast by the Gospel,” the Holy Bible must remain not only true, pure and unadulterated but it must also be available to them. Otherwise, Christians today will be submitting to corrupted Scriptures.

The paradox of the Muslim claim of corruption is that if the Bible is truly corrupted and, therefore, if a Christians today decides to abandon the Bible and follow the Qur'an, guess what does he find in the Qur’an? The Qur'an advises him to follow the Bible. It tells him, You have no ground to stand upon unless you stand fast by the Gospel.” It tells him to go back to the Holy Bible. Well, if a Christian is unable to do so because of the claim of corruption, then the Qur'an becomes false. Additionally, this verse is also telling Christians that the Qur'an is not for them.

TESTIMONY NUMBER SIXTEEN

Muslims do not believe the Bible has been changed because they have found adequate evidence to warrant such a belief. They believe it has been altered because they have to in order to maintain the conviction that the Qur'an is the Word of God. If the Bible is the unchanged Word of God, then the Qur'an automatically falls to the ground because it contradicts the Bible. Thus, before a Muslim even picks up a Bible he is led to believe it is no longer an authentic book.

But before Muslims blindly hurl accusations against the integrity of the Bible, they must gravely consider the seriousness of their action. According to the Qur'an itself, the solemn promises of Allah are found in the Torah and the Gospel. Thus, to criticize the Bible is to criticize its contents, which according to the teachings of their very own Qur’an, includes the promises of Allah.

Read the following verse carefully:

Surah 9:111: “Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs….It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.” (Pickthall)

Verily, Allah has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties for (the price) that theirs shall be the Paradise….This is a promise binding on Him in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur'an.” (Noble Qur'an)

The Surah containing the above Qur'anic verse is one of the last to be revealed in the Qur'an. The verse states: “It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an.” Will Allah state that the promise is binding – still in force – on him in the Torah and the Gospel if these two Scriptures are no longer valid? If the Torah and the Gospel are allowed to become invalid through corruption, then the promises of Allah that is found in these Scriptures has also become invalid. It will be like having a valid signature on an invalid document. Along with the invalid document, that signature will be rejected. At any rate, Muslims have to concede that during the time this Qur'anic verse was given, the Bible has to be intact and accurate.

The promise made by Allah to his faithful followers in this Qur'anic verse is a promise of eternal reward, a promise of Paradise. As such, that promise would be binding on Allah till all his faithful servants receive the fulfillment of their rewards. For the promise to remain in force in the Torah and the Gospel until all his faithful worshippers receive their rewards, the Torah and the Gospel must remain true as the day when this promise of Allah was made in them. Any alteration will invalidate the document that contains the promise. If the claim of corruption is true, then the promises made in Torah and the Gospel becomes empty.

For Allah to renew the promise he made in the Torah and the Gospel by deliberately mentioning these two Scriptures by name again in the Qur'an, shows that it is never the intention of Allah to make the Bible that holds his promise to become obsolete. For Allah to speak of the promise as still binding on him in the Torah and Gospel, even after the Qur'an came into existence, proves that these Scriptures are valuable to him. Had Allah wanted to abrogate or invalid the Torah or the Gospel or had he wanted the Qur'an to supersede them, he would not have mentioned this promise as still binding on him in both these Books.

If Allah’s promises are eternal, then the Books that testify to these promises must also remain true eternally. If not, can we trust Allah to keep his promises when he fails to protect the very document upon which his promises are engraved? Thus, we can be confident that the Bible will remain true as the eternal Word of God. The Bible will continue to remain as the absolute Word of God long after these promises are fulfilled because it will serve as a testimony that all the promises of Allah that are made in them were fulfilled without fail.

Surah 9:111 also asks a very pertinent question, “Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah?” What is a covenant? A covenant is a contract, promise, pledge, treaty or an agreement. Will Allah be fulfilling his covenants if he failed to protect the Torah and the Gospel from corruption when he had made repeated covenants in the Qur’an to protect them?

TESTIMONY NUMBER SEVENTEEN

Allah also testifies that not a single sentence that comes from him could be changed.

Surah 50:29: “The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves.” (Pickthall)

My word shall not be changed, nor am I in the least unjust to the servants.” (Shakir)

According to this verse, not even a sentence of Allah can be changed. When Muslims declare that the Bible has undergone changes, they are in reality saying that the pledge of Allah in the Qur'an which states that “none can change the Words of Allah” has changed into a meaningless set of words. So it is not the Bible that has changed but the Qur'an. True, the text still exists in the Qur'an but they do not mean what they are supposed to mean.

It only leads to complication for Muslims when they falsely charge the Bible with corruption. The last part of the above Qur'anic verse also implies that it would amount to an act of injustice and tyranny on the part of Allah if he permits his Scriptures to become corrupted. Why is that Muslims find it difficult to comprehend a simple, straightforward expression in the Qur'an?

TESTIMONY NUMBER EIGHTEEN

Surah 12:111: “Indeed in their stories, there is lesson for men of understanding. It (the Qur'an) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of (Allah’s existing Books) which went before it (i.e. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and other Scriptures of Allah) and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a Mercy for the people who believe.” (Hilali-Khan)

In their history verily there is a lesson for men of understanding. It is no invented story but a confirmation of the existing (Scripture) and a detailed explanation of everything, and a guidance and a mercy for folk who believe.” (Pickthall)

The Torah and the Gospel are spoken of as “Allah’s existing Books.” Can “Allah’s existing Books” be allowed to become false in the course of time? This Qur'anic verse proves that uncorrupted copies of the Bible were in existence and available during the time of Muhammad. Not a hint of corruption is mentioned here. Surah 12 (Surah Yusuf) is a late Meccan Surah which means it was revealed at least a decade after the initial revelation. The Qur'an is said to be a confirmation of the existing Books of Allah – Books that belong to Allah. Each time a Muslim charges the Bible with corruption, in the same breath, he is accusing Allah with failure to protect his Holy Scriptures. Will the Qur'an be able to confirm “Allah’s existing Books” if they had become corrupted? This verse proves beyond doubt that the Bible, described as “Allah’s existing Books” (plural because it contains the Torah, Gospel and the messages of the Prophets), was both accessible and genuine when this Qur'anic verse was revealed.

Read the above Qur'anic verse once again very carefully. You will notice that Allah is saying that the Qur'an is not an “invented story” or a “forged statement” by virtue of the fact that it confirms the earlier Scriptures – the Holy Bible. It can be seen here that Allah is drawing on the strength of the authenticity of the Bible to validate the Qur'an. In other words, Allah is saying that the Qur'an is true because it is a confirmation of something that is true, which in this case is the Torah and the Gospel. So, how can the previous Scriptures be charged with corruption? It is like saying that the title deed of the Qur'an has become fraudulent. In other words, the authenticity of the Qur’an depends very much on the authenticity and reliability of the Bible. And the Qur’an is supposed to confirm this pure and unadulterated existing Word of God. Thus, the claim by some Muslims, that the Bible has become corrupted, is in conflict with the teachings of the Qur’an which confirms the Bible’s authenticity. Additionally, it can be seen that throughout the time of the Qur'an’s revelation, the earlier uncorrupted Scriptures of Allah were still in use. Thus, to claim that the Qur'an was sent to replace the Bible because it has become corrupted is an absolute lie.

TESTIMONY NUMBER NINETEEN

Surah 46:12: “And before this, was the Book of Moses as a guide and a mercy: And this Book confirms (it) in the Arabic tongue. (Yusuf Ali)

And before it the Book of Musa was a guide and a mercy: and this is a Book verifying (it) in the Arabic language…” (Shakir)

The true fact is that the Qur’an is supposed to be an Arabic version of the Judeo-Christian Scriptures, specifically a confirmation of Moses’ Book in Arabic for Arabs.

Surah 6:154-156: Again, We gave the Scripture unto Moses, complete for him who would do good, an explanation of all things, a guidance and a mercy, that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord. And this is a blessed Scripture which We have revealed. So follow it and ward off (evil), that ye may find mercy. Lest ye should say: “The Book was sent down to two Peoples before us, and for our part, we remained unacquainted with all that they learned by assiduous study:” (Pickthall)

Surah 6:156: Lest you (pagan Arabs) should say: “The Book was sent to two sects before us (the Jews and the Christians), and for our part, we were in fact unaware of what they studied.” (Hilali-Khan)

Essential details can be seen here: One: These Qur'anic verses testify that the inspired Book of Allah was sent to only “two Peoples – the Jews and the Christians” – before the time of Islam.

Two: The Qur'an was sent to the Arabs, in their own language, so that they could now become acquainted with the Biblical messages that was sent to the Jews and Christians. It was sent as a result of the expected entreaty of the Arabs, “We were in fact unaware of what they studied.” The solution only necessitates a duplication of the Book of the Jews and the Christians in the Arabic language. As such, the Qur'an’s was not sent to correct, contradict or replace the Holy Bible but it was sent in order for the Arabs to know for themselves the Message of the Bible in their own language. This is only reason given by Allah for sending the Qur'an to the Arabs.

Three: The Qur'an testifies that the previous Scripture is “complete for him who would do good, an explanation of all things, a guidance and a mercy that they might believe in the meeting with their Lord.” If the Bible is “complete for him who would do good and an explanation of all things,” does he need any additional guidance to help him meet with his Lord? To put it more pointedly, “Does he need the Qur’an?” The above Qur'anic verse is just echoing a vital truth that was written long before the Qur'an came into existence. Concerning its very purpose, the Holy Bible states in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

The fact that the Qur'an turned out be different and even contradictory with the Bible has put Muslim scholars in a predicament. How can the Qur'an which is supposed to confirm and verify the Bible turn out to be so different? Their only way out of this dilemma is to fault the Bible. In doing so they have taken a stand against the author of the Bible – God himself! PLEASE PROCEED TO PART 3. Link to PART 3 is provided on the left column of this page.
