So you think you can read me

just like a book,

fumbling carelessly through my pages

eyeing me with that vicious look.

 Judging my content

after reading just one part,

thinking that gives you an idea

of what’s really locked inside my heart.

You skip over the good chapters

And only read the bad,

seeing all the things that I’ve lost

and what I’ve never had.

You judged me by my cover

which was used and worn,

if you’d really looked and understood

you’d see it was by you that I was torn.

So to you my vile critic

my story doesn’t end this way,

speak to me as a human being

you will see I have a lot of good to say.
