A poem that is dedicated to my friends, and to those among us who recognise this incredible bond of friendship. It tries to describe, abstractly, the interesting connections humans have as friends.

How does one begin to feel this?

to guide the gratitude through one’s arm

into fingers

into pen-on-paper?

The gratitude I feel

the unaltered gratitude – joy-

the poetries in motion (literally)

that are

quite simply

my friends.

That in itself could be a poem

except for the turbulent happiness

I have to write, record,

because for me – this book of me –

This is so rare

you are fun personified

you soar me

throw me

leap me into a motion of my own

We weave these patterns

from ground-floor up

Up up up

to the top, knocking sherry from crystal glasses

(checking for cameras)

running, racing, inappropriately

(for what is this age if not inappropriate?)

ringing things

dropping things

causing a general, beautiful destruction

A perfected, fibonacci sequence of fun

plans to go skinny-dipping

everything

(everything) off

digging sand-sanctuaries at the beach

escaping madmen (it’s really all part of the fun…)

You are sisterhood translated

in the ice-blocks

flying from our mouths

soaring gorgeously

over upper-class heads

into the water

Wahaa! I won!

You are bridge-builders,

delicate constructors of the links between us and others,

Architects of Soul

We walk

out of beat with each other-

we’re each singing to a different tune

but when I walk behind you

i catch your threads

thesecret ribbons that trail from your beings

They wind around me

catch my hair

my eyes

my thoughts

I see from a distance

as I stop and you walk

More clearly than ever

that each of you

All

Of

You

are poetries in motion.
