This poem is one that I have submitted to a contest. There is a deeper and hidden meaning to this poem, so let me know if you think you can find it. I think the last stanza gives it away.

In a bed of words, waves wander,
drifting forth upon an endless sea.
Often, though, my thoughts have wondered,
where might those waves carry me?

Shall I swim across the choppy sea,
my soul waterlogged with fear?
Or maybe you could sail the world with me
to pen a future, our hearts forever near.

Perhaps we could start a family,
find peace much like the days of yore --
oh, how I yearn for laughter and fond memories
with our hearts beating true and evermore.

We could write together a world so pure
with clouds of white and skies never grey,
but the waves grew too fast and you became unsure,
so you let them drag you away.

Alas, the bed of words would prompt such dreams
as though to haunt my every breath,
for your absence only whines and screams
even though it was I who penned your death.
