Achoo!  Oh, no!

Achoo!  Cough, cough, cough!

If you are like many other people, you realize that cold and flu season is quickly approaching.

Millions will catch the flu or cold virus this season.  Unfortunately there isn’t much one can do to prevent catching a virus because there is no definite vaccine to eliminate all viral stains floating around.

But, since there are recommended preventions, we should use them to our advantage.  Dr. James Krupa, biology Ph. D. and associate professor at the University of Kentucky, comments that “getting vaccinated, washing hands frequently, avoiding stress, plenty of sleep, and exercise will help your immune system.”  He also points out that people may want to avoid heavily trafficked areas because “the more people packed together, the better pathogens can spread.”  This means avoiding the places that many people congregate such as the mall, restaurants, and movie theaters.

Most of us will be unable to avoid populated places for the entire season, but there are other precautions to take.  WebMD, an online medical website, recommends ways to prevent illness.  Charles B. Inlander, president of The People’s Medical Society, names 12 natural tips we can all implement to avoid illness this cold and flu season:
