Papa & Mama

Chapter 1

Papa loves Mama.

Mama loves Papa.

On a beautiful day,

Papa and Mama got married.

It was a joyous occasion.

Everyone congratulated Papa and Mama …

and Papa and Mama’s Papa and Mama.

Everyone was very happy!

Papa and Mama were especially happy.

They have sworn to love and cherish each other for the rest of their lives.

Chapter 2

Mama’s tummy got bigger by the day.

Papa’s grin got wider by the day.

They were waiting for a new member of the family.

After months of hearing Papa and Mama,

I could finally see their faces and feel their hands.

Mama was crying. Papa was crying.

But they were both smiling at me and at each other.

I was happy.

Chapter 3

Years went by and I grew up.

From crawling to walking,

to running and jumping.

Papa and Mama call me ‘their bundle of Joy’.

I love the sound of that.

Soon I was in school.

Playing and learning with other children.

When I go home from school,

Mama would give me a hug

When Papa comes home from work,

Mama would give Papa a hug,

and I would give Papa a kiss.

Papa loves Mama.

Mama loves Papa.

I love Papa and Mama.

Chapter 4

Mama’s tummy got bigger by the day.

Papa’s grin got wider by the day.

I sat with Papa and Mama …

waiting for a new member of our family.

Mama was often sick.

She had to lie in bed all day.

I am worried for Mama …

but Mama says everything is going to be alright.

Soon, Mama’s tummy was bigger than a balloon.

I went with Papa and Mama to the hospital.

Mama got pushed into a room.

Papa and I waited outside the room.

The doctor came out of the room,

and I heard the cries of a baby.

Papa looked at me and smiled.

Papa held my hand and we walked into the room.

Mama was crying. Papa was crying. I was crying too.

Baby Brother was crying in Mama’s arms.

We were very happy.

Chapter 5

Mama was still sick.

I am worried for Mama,

but Mama says everything is going to be alright.

I helped Mama to make milk for Baby Brother.

I helped Mama to feed Baby Brother.

I helped Mama to change diapers for Baby Brother.

I hope Mama rests more.

I hope Mama gets well soon.

Chapter 6

Mama did not come to wake me up this morning.

Mama wakes me up every morning for school …

but Mama did not come this morning.

I go to Papa and Mama’s room to wake Mama up.

“Mama, Mama. Wake up. Is time for me to go to school.”

Mama does not move.

“Mama, Mama. I will be late if we do not go soon.”

Mama does not move.

“Mama. Mama.” I shake Mama gently like how she wakes me every day.

Mama does not move.

Mama is cold.

I am scared.

“Mama!! Mama!!” I cry loudly.

Papa wakes up.

Papa tries to wake Mama …

but Mama does not open her eyes.

I hold Mama’s hands.

“Mama... Mama...”

Mama does not move.

Papa picks up his phone and makes a call.

Chapter 7

Papa, Baby Brother and I are at the hospital.

Doctor walks to Papa and whispers to him.

Papa looks pale.

Papa walks to me and hug me tight.

Papa whispers in my ear …

“Mama is gone.”

I cried, and I wailed.

“Mama!! Mama!!”

Baby Brother starts crying too.

Papa is strong. Papa does not cry.

Uncles and Aunties who I do not recognize come into hospital room.

They speak to Papa as I continue to cry.

Papa is strong. Papa does not cry.

Papa makes a call. It is to Mama’s Mama.

Papa tells Mama’s Mama that Mama is gone.

A while later, Papa starts to cry …

Papa cannot stop crying.

Everyone is very sad.

Today is a sad, sad day.

Chapter 8

Papa looks pale.

It has been days since Mama is gone.

Papa hardly ate anything.

Papa did not cry again.

Not since that day.

Baby Brother misses Mama.

He cries for Mama every now and them.

I misses Mama too.

I cry for Mama every now and then.

Papa misses Mama too.

Papa does not cry but he will look at Mama’s photo every now and then.

Baby Brother is asleep.

I walk into Papa’s room.

Papa is looking at Mama’s photo again.

I sit on the bed next to Papa …

and I hold Papa’s hand …

“Papa, everything is going to be alright.”

Big drop of tears fall from Papa’s eyes.

I gave Papa a big hug …

A hug like how Mama always gives me.

“I love you Papa.”

Papa just nods and more tears fall from Papa’s eyes.

Papa loves Mama.

Mama loved Papa.

Papa and Mama love Baby Brother and I.

I love Papa, Mama and Baby Brother.

We will miss you Mama …

Farewell Mama …
