Wishing.

Waiting.

Wanting.

Hearts beat swiftly

ascitizens sit in wait

for their loved ones to return.

Unknowingly

the Warriorshave signed their lives away,

to serve

for a good cause

for a great cause

forever.

Bloody figures appear

on the television,

as citizens

painfully recognize the sillouettes

on the screen.

Soldiers cry

to the bloodied soil,

while viewers stand traumatized.

They take bullets to mouths,

while burly guards

hold back their wives' writhing arms.

Sobs of agony

ring out through the battlefield

through the smoke

that clears

to reveal death and wounds.

The false illusion of impunity

is shattered

for the soldiers

who underwent years of harsh training.

All too clearly, they realize that they are more vulnerable

than they thought.

Instead, guns are blown from callused hands

asthey fall

faster than they thought they could.
