I’ve been living so long
Hoping for the right time
It’s just passing me by,
Feels like a crime

I’ve been hearing your voice
And I could tell you who you were before you could
I dreamt about you years before I met you
And I can recognize you from a mile away
I could hear your cry in a crowd of a million
Like the bats
I know what it feels like to scrape my hands on your sandpaper-skin

My heart was set into your soul
Like the ruby at the silver bail
I was woven into the fabric of your heart
There will always be a part of me in your mind.
You wish you could let me go
Like the self-detest you feel and cannot place
You enjoy wallowing in my love
Shameful as it is to you.
You love my touch
But when you feel it, you reel back
In horror, like I am your nightmare
Poisoning your mind
But you don’t know yet
I don’t think you know at least
That I’m not the poison in your mind.
It is your own hatred
That is corroding away your lust for life.

You say you can take the pain,
But please try and accept.
Let me be your bandage.
