She wanted to have super powers. She wanted to be special, to feel wanted. To feel loved. Those feelings that everyone else simply takes for granted every damn day… that’s what she wanted. All she ever could have wanted.
Instead, she sat here. Feeling low, and unloved and unwanted. People would walk past and stare… look at her like “what are you trying to prove? You are hardly worth anything!” And she? Well, she would stare right back at them. Death stare. The I-want-you-to-see-how-I-feel-and-what-I-go-through look.
Her hair fell into her face. Tears streamed down her cheeks, though as silent as they were, they were full of pain. Pain, that no two people would ever perceive in the same light or in the same way. Pain from her past, pain from her present, and pain from her future; whatever that might hold, if anything. Would it really hold anything? Why on earth did she doubt herself so much when she knew she was loved and cherished by so many different people? They did, after all, tell her how much she was worth each and everyday and told her not to doubt anything and to look foreword to the future. The future.
A small child came up to her, cautiously. He put his had on her shoulder and she looked up, stunned at the act. No one ever touched her anymore, not even strangers.
"If you could have one super-hero power, what would it be? I would want to be invisible!” the child flopped down beside her putting her head on her shoulder.
“I would want to be able to fly,” she replied subtly, “because you don’t have to have superpowers to be invisible.”
