Hunger can take many forms. Read into it what you will, take away from it what you wish.

The hunger

It eats me from within

I scent my prey on the wind

I must not give in
To the hunger
I vowed
I cannot break my vow

The scent drives me mad

I feel my insides clench with

Of the upcoming feast
Just once more
Once will not hurt

Then I will keep my vow

Is no more
It is
For now.

...Speechless yet again...
Gorgeous poem. It means so much to me, reflecting on my own past, and yet it could trigger the same emotions in someone else, yet for different reasons. It reaches out with the same hand, but gives a ring from a different finger each time...

Thanks! I love the analogy you gave...that's precisely what I intended when I wrote it. I wanted it to mean something to everyone who read it.
