The Game*

Basketballs go flying through the air. You sit in anticipation. Waiting. Waiting for something you aren't quite sure of. He sits down across the floor. He is with some of his many friends. His beautiful blues eyes and brown hair make you stare. He looks up. He now is aware of your glare. A basketball hits the stands and you immediately look away. But just as quick as you looked away, you look back. You look back to see if he is still watching you. He's not. His eyes are fixated on his friends. The game begins. You watch awkwardly with some of your friends. Your ears are filled with the sound of cheers and the swishing of baskets being made. The buzzer goes off and it is suddenly half-time. Your friends get up, but you stay seated \"saving their seats\". You look across to see if he's gotten up. You notice him just in time to see him walking down the stairs. You cell phone suddenly vibrates alerting you of a text. A text from your mother. When you look up he's standing above you. Smiling. \"Is this seat taken?\" he asks. \"Um, actually, it is.\" His face goes blank and you can tell that's not the answer he was hoping for. \"But, this one...\" you gesture towards the seat to your left \"...isn't.\" He smiles and gladly takes the seat.
