This is actually a true story based on certain events of my life and what I've encountered. This particular story is about how I crossed paths with someone that I've could've ended up like. She and her children are in my prayers. If anyone is in a situation similar to the one in my story Please get help. You're a good person that needs help. Don't let life distract you from the gifts God has presented us with. Our children.

I spoke to this woman today for the first time
We're staying in the same place
A place for battered women
Even though she been around with her four young ones for a few weeks
I stayed away
Stayed busy
Coming back to this "shelter" reminded too much of my situation which depresses me
You see I'm here against my will technically
Fighting for my children in this ugly custody battle
But enough about that
This woman...she seemed she'd been living a rough life
for awhile
You can see it in her children
They are so young yet have been exposed by too much
The things they say makes me thank God I didn't allow that exposure of this hard life to mine
They caught glimpses but nowhere near what these four babies are going through
As I talked to her, our stories very similar fell in love with an older man at a young age basically trapped but broke free.
Yet the effects of the trauma in our lives linger
I have an education.
I'm a nurse.
But this lady didn't get that luxury.
Surviving on welfare and foodstamps.
Trying her best with no help.
My heart poured for her.
Cause we're almost the same age.
Me being a little younger but yet I can see her looking up to me.
But this would be the first and last time speaking with her.
You see the trauma in her life caused her inability to cope in a healthy way.
Pills and alcohol.
Not the best combination to have with four minor children present.
I had taken a nap after speaking to her and next thing I know there's knocking at the door.
It's one of the workers at the shelter
She asked could I watch the kids.
My heart drops because one of the little girls scream "the police have my mommy"
I knew exactly what was going on
See here in the shelter
It's about protecting the children as well as the mothers
They protected them but now their future is in jeopardy
Father in jail
And her family will only take the oldest girl
But what about the other three?
I begin to pray a silent prayer for them
And then I hold my children tight
I thanked God for giving me his strength to endure the hardest of times and never going astray
I pray for those babies and that mother that lost her way
