Feasting on Youth - Dining With Death

My eyes try to focus as I read through old journals,

diaries started 43 years ago,

I rather close them and read my memories, Smell the freedom.

I see us run in circles – young again,

my legs are freeing me, My tremor still

My ageless body becomes part of a waterfall, part of the moonlight

that caresses my body in stolen time and runaway moments,

Part of life – part of lust

Mirror, mirror on the wall who was the rebel among them all?

Free fall to drop zone, driving speed free zones, breathing, doting on life,

I shed my old skin and dress myself this time

The arms of life (time) move me towards a Dark hole,

It embraces me with a hint ofhaste….

I now look at our “forced friendship”hourly, and my memories Are more frequent,

My room now only an extension of my coffin,

another space before I Embrace my long waiting “friend” this time,

I take your hand without a fight,

I am tired, I have lived……..I have loved,

I was loved…………
