I hear a melody and think of you,
Your looks, your style, and the things you do,
You are the music so sweet, yet plain,
Just the kind that will ease my pain,
And this music has and will break my heart,
And I will let it play as I fall apart,
I must learn to sing with your melody,
Then we’ll have a duet, just you and me.
You’ll play with my heart as I play with my words,
Saying things that remain unheard,
Designing them for only you to hear,
Hoping that each vowel will bring you nearer,
But I can’t win a heart with a simple poem,
Or a store bought item that’s just brought home,
I try and do things that become part of you,
Trying to connect with your music and the things you do.
And you’ll deny me and I’ll still have hope,
For this lasting heartbreak I can cope,
Because in the end I’ll know I did good,
For by then I’d have given all I could,
And if none of these words can flow with you,
I will sit back, relax and just watch you,
As I listen to your quiet melody,
Until I fall into and everlasting sleep.
