Our society today is filled with many ideas that say we must conform to acking a certain way. (another form of brain washing). this short story that I wrote deals with the topic of peer pressure that teens face today. The main idea is that we should try and be more kind to the many differences in people, because that's what makes us unique. Do we really need another school shooting to wake us up.I hope you enjoy reading this short story as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

PEER PRESSURE, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH Written By: Esther Asencio

One problem that?we youth face today is, peer pressure. Are you in with

the latest styles? Have you ever been kissed?, or... Do you want to do

drugs? These are just some of the questions we face as we go through

our lives. It's sad, but from the moment we enter into the world of Jr. high

and high school, we are just about constantly faced with these questions.

But when is it going to be enough? Do we need another high school shooting

to allow us to see the evils of peer pressure.

Every time we turn on the news, if there isn't a war going on there is

discussion of the increasing obesity rate with young people, an increased

suicide rate, or more gangs in schools. If we the youth are the future

of nations, then we are not setting a good example for the generation

that follows.

Peer pressure attacks every part of our body, it attacks us mentally,

physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Instead of bringing each other

down, we should try and help build each other up. If we don't act now

and stop peer pressure while we can control it, could you just imagine

how evil peer pressure will be when we are adults and our children are

going through it? Let's just say that I would hate to be in their shoes. So let's

make a stand for what is right and make a difference in this world we

call home, because United we stand, but if we are all divided by peer pressure,

then we shall surely fall.

Hi Esther, I clicked on this piece thinking it was going to be a short story; it seems to be something that every teacher in the country should read. It's good writing, but what is the point of the story? Everyone in the country knows that kids can be the meanest creatures on earth. Try to wake-up the teachers to intervene before it gets serious.
Good Luck with your writing.

yes, it is true that everyone knows about this subject of peer pressure, but how many people do you know actually take action about it. That's the reason for this short story, because in this world we have many listeners but then no action is taken.I thank you very much for your opinion and hope to read some of your work soon.
