A A A

Slender chords wrap around my fingers.
The siren's song could not lure me
As deceptively as your vibrant vibrato.
Your eyes speak of innocence

(But your body sings sweet lyrics ofseduction.)
My mask slips.
The staccato of porcelain on concrete
A masquerade of paper thin lies.
(Angel) you have shattered me
Cracked through my defenses and broken my resolve.
They are scattered underground
Their white reflection like the remnants of our harmony (long forgotten.)
I was lost within our duet
Trapped beneath the strings of my primitive desires
Bound by biology (fueled by failure.)
Deftly, I lead you into my dark crescendo
(You -- the mask and I -- the monster.)
Silently, I grasp your hand
At my touch, they resign
At least, until the next stanza
Repeats
In death
(In eternity.)
