Vortex
Life twists and stretches you in each and every direction
We change our masquerade as we form each and every connection
Does anybody really accept us for who we truly are?
It seems like those people come few and far
The highly anointed and the newly enlightened are usually the worst
They stalk around where the ideas differ to quench their thirst
No matter how much they argue with others they never learn
That with that condescending nature they’ll cause nothing but scorn
Unless you abide with their standards they believe you’ll never be right
Because each fledgling of diversity causes them fright
You have to abide by the standards but also be extraordinary
That’s like telling two eagles to give birth to a canary
Each and every one has crafted their own sanctuary
But the thought of anyone entering seems quite scary
For you believe if anybody knew the real you they just might smirk
So you keep that piece of you locked up so it’s never hurt
So each time you look in the mirror it causes you nothing but pain
Because all that piece wants is sunshine but it gets nothing but rain
So now you get stuck in a battle of who you are and wish to be
But for some they began to question, “Why am I warring with me”
They gave their true self the key and let them be free
Because they had hope they would find those of limited quantity
Who would provide acceptance for who they were and could be
Instead of being the person that fuels their doubt and that clips their wings
How about you study on how to equip them to be a bird that soars and sings
