Letting a part of your past go and moving forward with your life.

That old pair of shoes don't fit no more.

Though you tried, you can't pretend they do. 

Yeah those tired old same shoes, though they're filled with memories,

No longer have a place beside you.
 
You can try to be their savior, hung up by cross and nail.
 
But with no such luck and habits of old, you're guaranteed to fail.
 
And those old beat up shoes, well scuffed up, they don't want your help.
 
Left behind in memories, somewhere on a shelf.
 
And though your one time favorite, hard to replace after oh so long.
 
Remember many years ago, they too, were first tried on.
