A very short, descriptive story about a day in the life of an addict with emotional problems and dependencies.

Hello, comfort.
My sweet escape.
My dearest friend.
Its raining. "Good" I thought. Another day of happy sun would have beckoned a smile that I can no longer afford. I've exhausted enough of those this week.

I look at you and wonder how a thing so minute could offer such grandiose effect.

Your appearance makes me reminisce to the elementary school days, crushing up the teachers chalk in a devious plan to delay any more learning. So easy, it was then.

And so I ensue like the child in the classroom crushing up chalk and writing my next line. Such acts of vandalism are not permissible by law, but the utter thought of bypassing such a rewarding feeling diminishes under the weight of my suppressing guilt. And away we go. Not for the better. No escape. More trapped than I was before. But for that moment, I am happy. So I exhaust my last smile and call it a night. I'll have more tomorrow, anyways.
