Depression is never something to be made fun of.

Depression is not a phase.

Medically speaking

depression is the chemical imbalance in the brain.

I've had this imbalance since

second grade.

Depression is a war.

Sometimes

depression wins the war

so I am sad

but my happiness builds up

and I am stronger for the next war.

I fight harder

and sometimes

I win.

Depression still lives

in the back of my mind

resting

growing stronger for the next war.

The wars can rage on and on

through a week

a year

a lifetime.

I am lucky enough to have allies in my battle.

My medicine

friends

and supporting family

all lend a hand in helping me win my war.

At first I never had that

that was when I never seemed to get better

always feared the next war.

I want to be a helping hand for others.

Bring color back to their

black and white life

where happiness has been leeched away

fed on by depression.

My black and white war has been won

now I only need to help with others.
