1. That is Life

“That dog trainer we saw at school today was awesome!” Everlyn said, her eyes twinkling

“Yeah she could sure teach my dog a thing or two” Billy said glumly

“Like how to sit, lay and roll over!” Everlyn said enthusiastically

“No....Like how to be nice....Killer always attacks me....He's my parents dog and I swear they have trained him to attack me!” Billy said, looking like he was about to cry

“Shh Billy....If I had a dog, I would train it to not hurt anybody” Everlyn said putting her arm around Billy

“What would you name your dog Everlyn?” Billy asked

“If it was a girl her name would be either Sarah or Billie” Everlyn said

“Billy isn't a girl’s name” Billy said

“It can be....and I don't mean the way you spell your name....The way it would be spelled would be B.I.L.L.I.E”

“Okay....What if it was a boy?” he asked

“If it was a boy he would be named either Charlie or Jackson” Everlyn said with excitement of the thought of having her own dog

“Although your Mom and Dad won't let you have a dog because of the new baby coming” Billy said in a serious tone

“New baby this! New baby that! Why is everything about the new baby!?” Everlyn screamed storming off

(Why is she freaking at me? I'm not the one having the baby) Billy thought to himself.

*I already have a dog named Mochie. I got him when I was in Fifth grade, I remember when I got him I was so excited to have a dog of my own. I am now nineteen and I want another dog, but  I can't have another one until my aunt stops coming to our house for visits, this is a way that I can have another dog, and the way Everlyn is behaving is typical for a nine year old who wants a dog and who is struggling with the fact of having a new baby in the house. I of course never had to deal with the new sibling thing because I am an only child. But I always did want a younger sibling, someone to play with, this is also a way I can cope with that emptiness too.
