The water and the rat did rise together and lay submerged before the heaving body of them both.

Touch had warmed their inner souls and yet had made moist its outer cover.

And now their movement in unison, yet a million miles apart, lunged on towards an angel choir singing “Hallelujah”, and the Devil’s guilt within a shrivelled aftermath.

A mass of unborn faces peered through misty shrouds, and cheered success, knowing that their future lay within the outcome of such intimacies.

Maiden aunts would smile, knowing that in this moment their dotage had been formed.

And yet, the moment almost passed.

Halted by a phantom thought waking unknown.

But the burning greed of carnage took the other on.

Over the call of duties missed, far from the idleness of daily task.

Deeper and deeper into the demanding drum of passion.

And in the moment of oblivion forged a human child.
