Perfectly pruned from root
and tip she sits.
Created to be admired,
trimmed just so,
for the sake of looking like  


her cousins in the wild.
They think
nothing of the 
diminutive spec. 
House trained, 
picked out,
admired, and for what?
They huddle on the hills
each reaching for light,
stretching for space,
shouting to make
herself heard above
the cacophony of


She sits short yet high.
She was chosen. 
Picked and pruned
to be the best tree she ever
could be. And so she sits,
admired by others, 
and makes them walk
a little bit taller. So too
her brothers and sisters
around the world.
