once upon a time.
cast around our heads
like tragedy masks in the rain
Outlandish screams of torment,
roaring from our chests.
But in silence.
Some slow decay
in wood work taking years
to rot the foundation
gnawing at our structures.
For all we knew was that we existed
in jovial times of love
but still waters run deep
and in still waters lie quick drowning currents
awaiting foolish swimmers.
