Dark Poem

Dark quiet speaking through the mist,
Whispering voices calling to me.
A dark secret that I never knew
And curls around me in evil glee.

Reaching fingers raking at my soul
A deathly hollow in search of a life
Creeping vines choking the light
And all the world an endless strife

See her sitting alone in pain
See him looking at easy prey
Watch out child for evil wolves
Who sniff out sorrow and come to stay

Listen to the silence that speaks to your mind
Hear the tears falling like rain
Where is the joy that never was born?
Icy stillness in endless pain.

Life is still and the song plays on
A dark lament for ages past
Into the secret she takes her life
To lie in calm, sleep at last.
